Jersey Hill Cemetery Creates Endowment

The Jersey Hill Cemetery Association recently established a permanent endowment with The Community Foundation of the Endless Mountains. This endowment will provide annual support to assist with the expenses of maintaining the historic Jersey Hill Cemetery in Auburn Center which is the final resting place of some of the earliest settlers of Susquehanna County. Many of the families with ancestors interred at the cemetery still reside in this area. The Jersey Hill Cemetery Association is comprised of local citizens who volunteer to oversee the care and upkeep of the cemetery. Part of their forethought and long-range plans was to establish this endowment to help ensure proper care for the cemetery for future generations. With this new endowment the Community Foundation now manages more than $600,000 in eight permanent endowments that provide support to six cemeteries in our region to help with their care and maintenance. Additional tax-deductible donations to the Jersey Hill Cemetery Association Fund are always welcome to help increase the support provided for the cemetery’s ongoing expenses. Donations can be sent to The Community Foundation at 270 Lake Avenue Montrose, PA 18801 or made online at
