Kintner Memorial Scholarship Established

Jeanne Fred Kintner

Jeanne and Fred Kintner

The Community Foundation of the Endless Mountains is pleased to announce the formation of the Fred & Jeanne Kintner Memorial Scholarship. This permanent scholarship endowment has been established by Mr. & Mrs. Kintner’s family. It will provide an annual award to graduating seniors from the Tunkhannock Area High School or the Susquehanna County Career & Technology Center who will matriculate at a post-secondary degree program or a trade school.

Both Fred and Jeanne were 1942 graduates of Mehoopany High School and were involved in local civic and business activities their entire lives. They operated a dairy farm for more than forty years and in 1972 Fred founded Kintner Modular Homes, which remains a family run business today. Fred was a member of the Tunkhannock Rotary Club and was recognized as a Paul Harris Fellow. Jeanne served on the Tyler Hospital Auxiliary, and for more than 30 years volunteered in the Cozy Corner at the hospital. Both Fred and Jeanne were very active in the Mehoopany Methodist Church, and in 2007 they established the Kintner Family Fund with The Community Foundation to provide permanent annual support for the expenses of maintaining the church.

With this new scholarship formed by the family of Fred and Jeanne their legacy of civic and educational support will continue for many generations to come. Donations to both of these endowments are always welcome to honor the memory of Fred and Jeanne Kinter, while also supporting the Mehoopany Methodist Church as well as local High School graduates, and may be sent to the Fred & Jeanne Kintner Memorial Scholarship or the Kintner Family Fund at The Community Foundation 270 Lake Avenue Montrose, PA 18801 or online at www.community-foundation.org.
