Elk Lake School District Foundation

 

The Community Foundation manages the following scholarships for your school district.  

Agnes & James W. Holbert Scholarship Fund

Established by the children of James W. Holbert, who was in the Army Medical Corps during WWII and participated in the Normandy Invasion.  The scholarship will be awarded to an Elk Lake and Montrose Area High School student, who will participate in the ROTC Program in college or enter a U.S. Military Academy.  

 

Cindi Conaty Memorial Scholarship Fund

Established by Susquehanna County President Judge, Jason Legg, in honor of his mother to provide a college or post-secondary degree program scholarship for a student from one of the six Susquehanna County high school districts.

 

Cody Albert Memorial Scholarship Fund

Established by Dale and Linda Albert in memory of their son Cody to provide a college scholarship to students from Susquehanna County who will major in the Visual Arts, Psychology, or Physical Therapy and who have overcome anxiety, depression, or other adversity.

 

Dimock Community Workers Scholarship Fund

Established by The Dimock Community Workers.  For a student who has the highest GPA of any Elk Lake student who resides in Dimock Township and who will matriculate in a post-secondary degree program.  

 

Gil Depew Memorial Scholarship Fund

Established by the family of Mr. Depew to provide a college scholarship for a diabetic student from one of the six Susquehanna County high schools.

 

John J. and Ann Vitale Scholarship Fund

Available to alumni from the six school districts in Susquehanna County who will enter their final year of college or graduate school and who have incurred student debt.

 

Lathrop Family Scholarship Fund

Established by Mrs. Mary Lathrop to provide a scholarship to graduates of Elk Lake School District who will enter a post-secondary degree technical program or trade school.

 

Margaret Stone Music Scholarship Endowment

Established by Mrs. Stone, Houghton College class of '45, to assist a music major attending her alma mater.

 

Matthew Van Fleet Memorial Automotive Scholarship Fund

Established by Matthew's parents and his sister in memory of Matt who passed away in an automobile accident.  The scholarship provides assistance to a student who will study automotive technology. The scholarship is available to students from all the school districts in Susquehanna and Wyoming Counties.

 

Maurice D. Taylor Memorial Music Scholarship Fund

Established by the family of Mr. Taylor who was originally from Montrose and became a nationally recognized music and band instructor. The scholarship will benefit a student from Montrose or Elk Lake who will attend a post-secondary degree program to major in music.   

 

Meshoppen Creek Fund

Established by Reverend Paul Carlson and his late wife Myrtle to provide assistance to a graduating high school Senior from Susquehanna County, Pennsylvania or Pinellas County, Florida who exhibits exceptional promise for their future and who writes a winning essay about their greatest accomplishment in life so far.

 

Montrose Area Chamber of Commerce Pauline MacNeal Memorial Scholarship Fund

Established to honor past Chamber member Mrs. Pauline MacNeal. Provides college tuition assistance to graduating seniors from the high schools in Susquehanna County, as well as home schooled or cyber schooled students, who reside in Susquehanna County and will major in a business related field.

 

Montrose Business and Professional Women's Scholarship Fund

Provides a college scholarship to a graduate of a Susquehanna County high school who will further his or her education in preparation for entering the business or health care professions, or to an adult seeking further education.

 

R.E.S.C.U.E. Benjamin B. Stone Memorial Scholarship Fund

Established by the environmental organization "Return Susquehanna County Under Ecology" to recognize Benjamin Stone. Two college scholarships are awarded each year and are available to Seniors from all of the High Schools in Susquehanna County and from Honesdale, Wallenpaupack Area, and Western Wayne High Schools in Wayne County.   

 

Reginald Sanger & Florence MacGowan Memorial Scholarship Fund

Established in memory of Mr. Sanger and Mrs. MacGowan who were brother and sister who retired to the Elk Lake area.  The scholarship is for an Elk Lake senior, who is enrolled in a post-secondary degree program.

 

Scholarships for Careers Endowment

Established anonymously by a local family with ties to Elk Lake School District.  The scholarship is for graduates of Elk Lake School District and/or The Susquehanna County Career & Technology Center who have financial need, exhibit promise for the future, and will attend a vocational, technical, academic, or other post-secondary degree program.  The scholarship fund can also be used to assist with special unfunded projects in the School District or the Career & Technology Center.  

 

Susquehanna County Christmas Basketball Tournament Scholarship Fund

Established by the school districts in Susquehanna County to provide college scholarships to students from the teams that participate in the Annual Susquehanna County Christmas Basketball Tournament every December.  

 

Thomas Conaty Memorial Scholarship Fund

Established by the family of Mr. Conaty to provide a college or post-secondary degree program scholarship to a student from Blue Ridge, Elk Lake or Montrose Area School Districts. Preference will be given to a student who will pursue a degree in business or a related field.
