Montrose Area High School
March 23, 2009: Two anonymous benefactors have established a new scholarship for students graduating from Montrose Area High School. The Technology for Tomorrow Scholarship Fund will assist a student in attending a post secondary degree or training program in the technology or industrial arts field.
The scholarship award, which will be administered by The Community Foundation of Susquehanna and Wyoming Counties through its affiliation with the Montrose Area School District Foundation , will be $500 for 2009. Students who are in good standing, display good character and citizenship qualities can apply for consideration. The student's grades and financial need can also be a factor for consideration. High School Principal, Jim Tallarico, points out "this is a great opportunity for these kids to get the recognition and support they deserve."
The anonymous donors are parents of students in the district who wanted to assist Montrose students in improving their educational opportunities and reaching their goals. High School Guidance Counselor, Mary Beth Ohmnacht, added "it is wonderful to have this type of support from parents and community members to help our students." This scholarship can be further enhanced from tax-deductible contributions that can be sent directly to The Community Foundation.
