Milnes Companies Supports Local Pre-School Scholarships

April 8, 2008: The Milnes Companies, a family run engineering and construction firm headquartered in Tunkhannock, has donated $4,000 to the Pre-School Scholarship Program for low to moderate income families administered by The Community Foundation of Susquehanna & Wyoming Counties. This assistance is currently helping 80 students who are attending 12 Pre-Schools in The Community Foundation's two-county service area. In the five years The Community Foundation has administered Pre-K and K-12 Scholarships nearly 600 students attending 40 schools have received over $500,000.00 in tuition assistance.

The Community Foundation expresses its gratitude for the generosity and commitment the Milnes Companies have shown toward local families striving to educate their children. The Milnes Companies is the very first corporation headquartered in Wyoming County to assist with our scholarship program and we appreciate their participation very much, as do the families who have received this assistance, who in some cases might not be able to send their children to Pre-School without this help.

Furthermore, the Milnes Companies is in the final stages of a renovation project on the building in Montrose that is owned by a private foundation which donates office and meeting space for The Community Foundation. The facility is enabling us to continue our level of growth and we appreciate our new headquarters very much.
