How Funds Work

Individuals, families, and organizations come to The Community Foundation because of our ability to help them support worthwhile causes, to participate in regional betterment, and to find greater satisfaction in charitable giving. The Community Foundation is your personal approach to express your individual charitable giving needs. You can start your own Fund to achieve your personal goals - a Fund that is directed by you, that addresses local needs, that accomplishes what you think is important.

No dream is too small or too large. We usually associate philanthropic Funds with millions of dollars of assets. However, every size Fund can find a place at The Community Foundation. Funds grow in size; the important thing is to get started.

Usually a donor prefers that the original contribution remains untouched. Only the income of the Fund is used for charitable disbursement. Our investment policy is conservative and is guided by sound practices utilizing solid investments. Grants are distributed according to your decisions of how and where they should be applied.
