Representative Sandra Major
Pennsylvania House of Representatives
A lawmaker since 1995, Sandra Major is no stranger to public service. Prior to her election to the House, she was Susquehanna County Treasurer and district assistant to the late Rep. Carmel Sirianni.
Major is a graduate of Mountain View High School, Keystone Junior College and attended the University of Scranton. Her sprawling legislative district includes parts of Susquehanna, Wayne and Wyoming counties. She maintains district offices in Montrose and Tunkhannock, and holds monthly office hours at the Preston Township Building in Wayne County.
Major is a member of the East Central, Firefighters & Emergency Service, Lupus, Oil & Gas, Pennsylvania Legislative Sportsmen's and Timber caucuses and is a Pennsylvania Higher Education Assistance Agency board member. She also serves as board member of the Community Foundation of Susquehanna and Wyoming Counties.
She was elected to the leadership position of Republican Caucus Chairwoman for the 2007-08 session of the General Assembly and was reelected to the position for the 2009-10 session.
Rep. Major is a member of the TreHab Center Board of Directors, the President's Advisory Council for Keystone College, Pennsylvania Farm Bureau, the National Rifle Association, the Friendship Club of Montrose, Susquehanna Council of Republican Women, Pennsylvania Council of Republican Women, and the National Council of Republican Women. She is a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Montrose.
